I have to admit – it is a amazing feeling when a complete stranger walks up to your booth and says, “I need book two!” I have sold a few books mostly to friends and family. As an organization our local authors have done some book sales together in different places. I have sold a few books this way as well. So you can imagine my surprise when someone sought me out of a crowd of authors and why I’d be a bit encouraged. I had the distinct pleasure of selling more than one book on this day.
Gosh that’s encouraging.
Our local membership of Leon County Writers Anonymous is just amazing. We meet once a month at our local library to pow wow over what is going on in our literary lives. Some meetings each person reads a portion of their work. Other meetings are spent on marketing and publishing aspects. Our group is so diverse in genres and in the people that write covering a variety of backgrounds. We started out with about three writers and only one published. Now, at least 6 of us are published and our ranks are growing. It truly is phenomenal to have such a supportive group to stand behind you with encouragements and help when needed.
Back to the signing. It was so positive. I met some new faces, seen some old fond friends, and look forward to our next annual signing. By God’s grace, my third book in the series will be ready by then. If you missed us we do have a couple engagements coming up in the fall in our county. Follow our Leon County Writers Anonymous Facebook page to stay up on group signings.
Here is a few pictures from our event so you can meet the authors.
Of course, here is me, Celina Easterling, I write a Historical Fiction with Inspirational Romance. I have two books published with a third in the wind. You can find my Cultivating Texas Roots Series here on Amazon and at the Centerville Library.
This is my dear friend, Genie Clark. She writes a series of Sweet Romance books. They are set in today’s time here in our local county about a ranching family. You can find her McNaughton Series here on Amazon and at the Centerville Library.
This is our Mr. Tom Abernathy. He has written for the local newspapers for a number of years. He published all of his short stories into a couple of volumes to preserve their history. He also complied a wonderful cookbook in memory of his late wife. You can find his Sandflat Stories here on Amazon and at the Centerville Library.
This is Mrs. Becky Willis and she writes a “Who dun it?”, mystery. Sounds cool right? This was her first signing with us but she’s no new kid on the block. She has series books and several stand alone novels. Go look for her Sisters, Texas Mysteries Series at Amazon.
Here is Ms. Darla Williams, an energetic children’s author. She is the author/illustrator of her adorable children’s story. Here is her book Casey’s Adventure on Amazon. I might of heard that her next book is coming soon.
This is Mrs. Leslie and her husband. She is working of some amazing literary works. She’s getting her things ready to publish. She did a fantastic job greeting and working the sign in table.
Not least or even meant for last– drum roll please. Mr. Don Hervey. This gentleman keeps us guessing at every turn. He is a wealth of information and has his own series ready for purchase. He is a science fiction author with a story to tell. His series starts here with Calypso Founding available at Amazon.
And my beautiful middle child who accompanied me to my signing. The antique store next door is going out of business and she found some honky tonk piano to play on the side walk. If she looks familiar, she’s on the cover of my book “Between Two Fires.” She’s now expecting my second grandblessing! 🙂
It was a blessed day. I am so thankful for all of our writers, the family who supports them, the library that hosts us, and the readers who read!
Happy Reading!
